VASERlipo is an advanced form of liposuction that uses ultrasound assistance to remove fat with minimally invasive techniques. VASERlipo can be used on small areas for precise body contouring like the neck and arms or larger areas for dramatic transformations. Compared to traditional and other forms of liposuction, VASERlipo allows board-certifed plastic surgeon Dr. Manish Shah to have more control, which can be used to accentuate and define the patient’s muscles in areas like the stomach. VASERlipo uses ultrasound energy to target the fat cells while the surrounding tissues, like muscles and organs, are protected from the procedure. Surgical Technique

VASERlipo is performed in an accredited surgical center with the patient under general anesthesia or sedation. To start VASERlipo, Dr. Shah will inject the treated area(s) with a saline solution to numb the area and shrink blood vessels. Then, thin probes are inserted through small incisions and the probes shake fat cells cells loose using high ultrasound frequency, which has no affect on surrounding tissues. The loosened fat cells are then removed with special liposuction cannulas. The fat removed using VASERlipo can be used in a fat transfer if the patient has an area of the body that needs more volume.

During/After Surgery

VASERlipo may take from 1 – 3 hours depending on the amount of fat that is being removed and how many areas are being treated. After the procedure, patients should rest for at least 12 hours and avoid strenuous activities for 2 – 3 weeks. Dr. Shah will give the patient recommendations for a recovery regimen that helps skin elasticity and encourages smoother results. Results can be seen immediately, but final results appear in 3 – 4 months as the body continues to heal and transform. While the fat that is removed cannot be recreated, patients should continue a healthy lifestyle, including a proper diet and exercise since the remaining fat cells can expand from future weight gain and alter the patient’s results.

VASERlipo can be used to treat a wide variety of areas, including the abdomen, thighs, knees, buttocks, hips, arms, male and female breasts, love handles, and more – almost any part of the body can undergo treatment with VASERlipo. Liposuction is not meant for weight loss and Dr. Shah will discuss how much fat can be safely taken from the patient during the procedure. Patients should tell Dr. Shah about their full medical history and any medications or supplements that they are taking during their consultation.

VASERlipo Vs. Laser Lipolysis?

Laser-assisted liposuction, also known as laser lipolysis, uses thermal energy to destroy fat, but this method only works on smaller amounts of fat and the heat can cause thermal damage to surrounding tissue. VASERlipo works well on large and small areas and the ultrasound energy does not affect the tissues surrounding the fat.

VASERlipo Vs Traditional Lipo?

While traditional, suction-assisted lipolysis is the most common form of liposuction used, it also tends to have greater blood loss in the patient. Traditional liposuction is also not as adept as VASERlipo at removing fibrous fat tissue (often found in the love handles, bra rolls, and males patients).

VASERlipo Vs. Power Lipo?

Power-assisted liposuction is the fastest form of liposuction, but it often produces lumpy outcomes since it is harder to control the device. VASERlipo gives Dr. Shah the most control during the procedure for better body contouring.
