VASERlipo is an advanced form of liposuction that uses ultrasound assistance to remove fat with minimally invasive techniques. VASERlipo can be used on small areas for precise body contouring like the neck and arms or larger areas for dramatic transformations. Compared to traditional and other forms of liposuction, VASERlipo allows board-certifed plastic surgeon Dr. Manish Shah to have more control, which can be used to accentuate and define the patient’s muscles in areas like the stomach. VASERlipo uses ultrasound energy to target the fat cells while the surrounding tissues, like muscles and organs, are protected from the procedure. VASERlipo also has faster recovery times than other forms of liposuction, so Dr. Shah's Denver, CO patient can start enjoying their new, slim figure sooner.
"Dr Shah is the entire package. He answers all your questions, makes sure you are comfortable with the procedure, is an expert surgeon, and really cares about you and your results. Great rates too."- Anonymous / RateMDs / Jun 23, 2015
"I Wish I Did This Sooner!!! - Englewood, CO - I had Vaser liposuction three months ago by Dr. Shah. I can’t express enough how grateful I am not only to him for doing such a wonderfully detailed sculpting job on my body (flanks, back rolls, upper & lower abs), but also grateful that I gave myself the permission to finally do this for myself. I am in my mid 30’s and am not overweight but for 20 years have struggled with these areas that just never looked right to me and made me feel self-conscious & bad about myself most of the time. I became very good at hiding my ‘problem areas’ with larger clothes and/or always tied a sweater or sweatshirt around my waist, but that certainly didn’t make me feel good about myself and I felt like I had to guard these areas at all times. Other than my close friends and significant other most people would never have known that I was silently suffering with this insecurity because I am an extrovert, very outgoing, and ironically appeared very confident about myself. I avoided shopping for clothes because it became something that I dreaded (a burden!) rather than something to look forward to because it seemed that I would always end up in clothes that I felt like I had to wear versus what I really wanted to wear…and feel sexy & confident wearing. My eyes would immediately look at my mid-section as soon as I put any clothes on and most times I felt defeated before I even looked in the mirror. I highly recommend Dr. Shah! He was excellent in explaining & recommending my treatment plan and we were on the same page every step of the process. He is extremely meticulous about his work and I appreciate the time he took to make sure I was comfortable and happy with the results I was hoping to receive. He and his staff are caring, warm, & friendly and made me feel comfortable about asking questions (and I had a lot!). Now I have the confidence that I have always secretly longed for and the only regret I have is that I didn’t do this sooner!"- J. / RealSelf / Feb 28, 2015

VASERlipo is performed in an accredited surgical center with the patient under general anesthesia or sedation. To start VASERlipo, Dr. Shah will inject the treated area(s) with a saline solution to numb the area and shrink blood vessels. Then, thin probes are inserted through small incisions and the probes shake fat cells cells loose using high ultrasound frequency, which has no affect on surrounding tissues. The loosened fat cells are then removed with special liposuction cannulas. The fat removed using VASERlipo can be used in a fat transfer if the patient has an area of the body that needs more volume.
VASERlipo may take from 1 – 3 hours depending on the amount of fat that is being removed and how many areas are being treated. After the procedure, patients should rest for at least 12 hours and avoid strenuous activities for 2 – 3 weeks. Dr. Shah will give the patient recommendations for a recovery regimen that helps skin elasticity and encourages smoother results. Results can be seen immediately, but final results appear in 3 – 4 months as the body continues to heal and transform. While the fat that is removed cannot be recreated, patients should continue a healthy lifestyle, including a proper diet and exercise since the remaining fat cells can expand from future weight gain and alter the patient’s results.

VASERlipo can be used to treat a wide variety of areas, including the abdomen, thighs, knees, buttocks, hips, arms, male and female breasts, love handles, and more – almost any part of the body can undergo treatment with VASERlipo. Liposuction is not meant for weight loss and Dr. Shah will discuss how much fat can be safely taken from the patient during the procedure. Patients should tell Dr. Shah about their full medical history and any medications or supplements that they are taking during their consultation.
VASERlipo Vs. Laser Lipolysis?
Laser-assisted liposuction, also known as laser lipolysis, uses thermal energy to destroy fat, but this method only works on smaller amounts of fat and the heat can cause thermal damage to surrounding tissue. VASERlipo works well on large and small areas and the ultrasound energy does not affect the tissues surrounding the fat.
VASERlipo Vs Traditional Lipo?
While traditional, suction-assisted lipolysis is the most common form of liposuction used, it also tends to have greater blood loss in the patient. Traditional liposuction is also not as adept as VASERlipo at removing fibrous fat tissue (often found in the love handles, bra rolls, and males patients).
VASERlipo Vs. Power Lipo?
Power-assisted liposuction is the fastest form of liposuction, but it often produces lumpy outcomes since it is harder to control the device. VASERlipo gives Dr. Shah the most control during the procedure for better body contouring.
