Xeomin, a prescription-strength wrinkle treatment, is similar to BOTOX in that it is made from a toxin, botulinum type A, which relaxes the underlying muscles that cause wrinkles. The associated muscles’ nerve activity is blocked which temporarily calms the muscles down and this results in a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles. Denver plastic surgeon, Dr. Manish Shah, injects Xeomin because it doesn’t contain any additives, which reduces the probability that a patient will be resistant to it. Dr. Shah administers Xeomin to treat facial furrows such as moderate to severe lines found between the eyebrows and frown lines to provide patients with a more relaxed, well-rested appearance.

"A wonderful wonderful Doctor - Dr Shaws expertise and bedside manners are above and beyond anything I have ever experienced. After having lipo a couple of times and my daughter having a breast reduction, they make you feel like you are a part of their family. Would highly recommend Dr Shaw and I know I will be seeing he and his staff til I'm too old to care anymore about how I look"- L. / RealSelf / Feb 14, 2017
"Dr. Shah is very knowledgeable and has been great to work with. He is board certified and I would say strives for very natural results, which is what I was looking for. I came in inquiring about "non surgical" options for my nose. He took me through all the options and I felt very comfortable that he understood what I wanted. He came up with a hybrid type of procedure that addressed all of my concerns. This was a very minimally invasive option that I was extremely happy about. I've talked to a few doctors and I think he was the most honest and willing to work with me in my concerns. It was in office, very painless and i couldn't be happier. He seems very genuine and isn't pushy like other experiences I've had."- K.H. / Google / Feb 07, 2017

What to Expect@headingTag>
Xeomin is an in-office procedure that is usually performed in less than 30 minutes. Prior to treatment, ink marks will be made to the injection sites on the face, and a fine needle will deliver the product directly into the skin. Xeomin is most effective in treating frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead furrows, and wrinkles around the chin area. There is no pain during the injection, but numbing creams may be applied to ease any discomfort caused by the injection prick. Mild swelling and redness may appear on the injection area, which usually subsides after a few hours. After a Xeomin treatment, there is no downtime, and most patients may resume normal activities.

Is BOTOX Better?@headingTag>
Xeomin is purely botulinum toxin type A unlike BOTOX (or Dysport), which has additives. This decreases the chances of the patient’s immunity to the medication. There is also the ease of distribution as Xeomin doesn’t require refrigeration. Other than that, both provide the same effect in treating facial cosmetic issues.
Is This Safe?@headingTag>
In the hands of a well-experienced practitioner, muscle relaxants are safe. The effects are also temporary, so if the patient is dissatisfied with the results, they can be rest assured that these results will not last forever. Xeomin has been proven by the FDA to be safe and effective to use.
Combined With Fillers?@headingTag>
A growing trend nowadays is a “liquid facelift” in which both muscle relaxers and derma fillers are combined in a single treatment. It is a noninvasive way of rejuvenating the facial appearance without surgery. Most patients who prefer this method believe the temporary and safe results outweigh the risks of a surgical procedure.
